IWWF Approves Lang’s World Tricks Record

Photography by Spencer SchulzThe International Water Ski & Wakeboard Federation’s Tournament Council announced today that it has ratified U.S. athlete Erika Lang's pending world tricks record of 10,850 points. Lang, of Gilbert, Ariz., set the record on Oct. 6 at the Sunset Lakes Fall Classic at Jack Travers’ International Tournament Skiing at Sunset Lakes in Groveland, Fla.

Pam Am Wakeboard Event Set For Nov. 1-3

The 2018 Pan American Wakeboard Championships will be held Nov. 1-3 at Boca Laguna in Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico. The event will be used as the U.S. qualifier for the 2019 U.S. Pan American Games Team. One male wakeboard rider and one female wakeboard rider will be selected to the 2019 U.S. Pan American Games Team based upon results at the 2018 Pan American Wakeboard Championships. ULM Wins Connelly Collegiate Nationals

The University of Louisiana-Monroe water ski team won the Division 1 national title at the 40th Connelly Skis Collegiate Water Ski National Championships, Oct. 11-13, at the San Marcos River Ranch in Martindale, Texas. The Warhawks tallied 12,175 points in winning their third consecutive and 29th overall national team title since the inception of the tournament in 1979. Louisiana-Lafayette finished second with 12,115 points. Alabama, which tallied 11,830 points, placed third. Florida Southern College finished fourth with 11,515 points and Rollins College was fifth with 7,540 points.

Revised Rosters Announced For Pan Ams

The American Water Ski Association’s International Activities Committee has announced revisions to the team rosters for the 2018 Pan American Water Ski Championships. Seven U.S. Water Ski Teams have been selected to compete in the 2018 Pan American Water Ski Championships, Nov. 12-18, at Lago Los Morros in San Bernardo, Chile. The teams – Under 14, Under 17, Under 21, Elite, Over 35, Over 45 and Over 55 – were selected based on a pre-determined selection criteria approved by the American Water Ski Association’s International Activities Committee and board of directors.

2019 Junior U.S. Open Heading To Wisconsin

The American Water Ski Association is pleased to announce the 2019 Junior U.S. Open Water Ski Championships will be held June 29-30 in Oconomowoc, Wis. The two-round, world-record capability event will feature Junior Men and Junior Women (ages 17 to 21) and Boys and Girls divisions (ages 16 and under).

15 Athletes Win U.S. Open Ski Racing Titles

Matthew Klee of Harbor City, Calif., won the 16 & Under Boys title at the 2018 U.S. Open Water Ski Racing National Championships.Fifteen water ski racing athletes won titles at the 14th annual U.S. Open Water Ski Racing National Championships, Sept. 29-30, at Havasu Springs in Parker, Ariz. The National Water Ski Racing Association, a sport discipline organization of USA Water Ski & Wake Sports, hosted the two-day competition. More than 40 athletes competed in two rounds of circle-sprint races. The athletes drew for pole positions, made a deep-water start at the drop of a green flag and raced in lanes for a designated number of laps. Athletes competed for titles in 19 divisions. Overall placements were determined by total number of points. In the event of a tie, total race time broke the tie.

AWSA IAC Seeks Officials For 2019 Events

In early November, the American Water Ski Association’s International Activities Committee (IAC) will nominate officials for respective 2019 international events. Although this list includes the Junior U.S. Open Water Ski Championships, the Junior U.S. Open officials will NOT be chosen by the IAC – they will be selected by the AWSA president in consultation with the LOC (we send this information along to the AWSA president).
